2017 NC Rare and Vintage Beer Tasting

Durham North Carolina

Jan 28, 2017

The NC Rare & Vintage Beer Tasting (previously the Raleigh Rare & Vintage Beer Tasting) was created to provide beer enthusiasts with the ultimate experience!

Beers are poured by 55+ different brewery representatives in an intimate environment, allowing attendants the opportunity to learn what makes these beers special and meet the brewers that created them. Brewers bring between 1 and 4 beers each, and in varying styles, leading to a smorgasbord that is sure to please every kind of beer connoisseur.

Much like previous years, we have large square-footage tents, in addition to an expanded outdoor area, samples from our Food Truck friends, and passed appetizers (YES that means the mini corndogs!) for you to pair with your beverages.

Some new features this year include:

  • Live Brewing Demonstration hosted by participating brewers
  • Mini Food Truck Rodeo
  • Silent auction hosted by Pints for Prostates with unique brewery experiences, swag, beer and other goodies
  • People's Champion Belt to be decided on by YOU, the attendant, awarded to the Brewery serving the most popular beer of the event.
  • FREE Men's Health Screening

We are excited to use Whova as our event management solution.

Chris Zieber

Head Brewer / Owner, Appalachian Mountain Brewery

Bio: Our brewery and tasting room are located at 163 Boone Creek Drive, bordering Boone Creek and Hodges Creek near the Boone Mall. The tasting room features plenty of outdoor seating, a 120 foot long outdoor bar bordering Boone Creek and a covered heated porch perfect for enjoying one of our beers. We brew all of our beer at the tasting room on our 10 barrel (310 gallon) JV Northwest All-American made system. Our brew system features a mix of 10-barrel and 20-barrel high-grade glycol chilled stainless steel jacked fermenters and several bright tanks.

Joe Mashburn

Head Brewer, Night Shift Brewing

Bio: Night Shift Brewing was founded in 2012 by a trio of friends with a shared passion for homebrewing. Through culinary inspiration and determined innovation, we aim to create memorable craft beers that offer a wide array of unique, complex flavors. WHAT DO WE BELIEVE? We believe in creating and sharing a world class culture built around our passions. This belief influences everything from our branding, to our sales service, to our staffing, to our Taproom environment, to our processes on the production floor. We are endlessly passionate about the culture that we create, and we look to share that culture with those around us.

Josh Wing

Head Brewer, Trophy Brewing

Bio: Trophy Brewing stretches across West and South downtown Raleigh brewing at two locations; The Morgan St. location opened in February 2013 and features a 3 Barrel Brewhouse and full service restaurant. The Maywood location which opened in December of 2015 features a comfortable taproom attached to our 20 Barrel production facility and often hosts food trucks. Our beer is something, often unique, and always tasty. Our taprooms are inviting and our staff is well versed in the way of zymurgy, small talk and making you feel at home. Come down and have dinner with us, or just stop by for a beer at either place. Cheers!

All of our power is sourced from renewable energy, and we use recycled packaging and sustainable materials whenever possible. Hardywood beers have earned international acclaim with medals at the World Beer Cup and Great American Beer Festival, as well as a rare 100 rating by BeerAdvocate Magazine.

Nick Williams

Head Brewer, Haw River Farmhouse Ales

Bio: We're so committed to locally sourcing ingredients we've harvested our own wild yeast from right here in Saxapahaw. And then, we brewed beer with it. That's right: it's yeast from our very own backyard. Our beer is rooted in Belgian history because it's a centuries-long basis for great beer that doesn't follow too many parameters or distinct styles. So, we're continuing the tradition—by being a bit non-traditional. From field to glass, our founders, Ben & Dawnya Woodward, use country ingenuity to cook up new ways of brewing. Just like Belgian farmers have done for generations.

Whit Baker

Brewmaster / Owner, Bond Brothers Beer Co.

Bio: Bond Brothers Beer Company started as a group of brewers competing in local and regional homebrew competitions. Their success in these competitions fueled the desire to brew on a commercial level. Certified Cicerone Brewmaster Whit Baker and crew have developed a vast array of proven recipes to satisfy all craft beer lovers. Whether you enjoy Stouts, IPAs, Saisons or Sours, Bond Brothers beer offerings are sure to please. Bond Brothers decided to make historic downtown Cary their home. They chose downtown Cary based largely on the revitalization movement taking place there. Their recently completed industrial modern space is quickly becoming a popular epicenter in the downtown community. With over 9000 square feet of brewery, taproom and beer garden to enjoy, they have built a destination that matches the quality of their beers. There are 14 unique beers on tap, a robust barrel sour program, monthly guided brewery tours, and a kid/dog friendly environment. Bond Brothers Beer Company has created a must see destination in the heart of the Triangle.
