Joe brings over 30 years of experience in social policy research, including 7 in housing. He led numerous research projects for the US Departments of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Labor (DOL), Agriculture (USDA), Health and Human Services (HHS) and the United Nations. He designed and managed evaluations mandated by Congress, an extensive survey on humanitarian need in Iraq and the national evaluation of HUD's homeownership zones. This assessed the progress of public-private partnerships to rebuild vibrant mixed-income communities in formerly blighted inner-city neighborhoods in 11 cities across the country.
He earned his doctorate in economics from the New School for Social Research and his BA in political science and economics from Manhattanville College. Dr. Kirchner joined realtor.com® in March 2015.
