Food and Process Specialist, Montana Manufacturing Extension Center (MMEC)
Bio: Claude Smith graduated from Jamestown University with a B.A. in Biology and a Chemistry minor. He worked for the US Department of Energy in coal research for two years before going to work for The Pillsbury Company. He worked in various Pillsbury and Green Giant facilities in the areas of Quality Assurance and then Operations. He was trained as a Food Safety expert, Statistical Process Control trainer, and a Total Quality Management expert while studying the Deming method under Dr. W. Edwards Deming and others. Through the years Claude has worked for several food manufacturing companies while always pushing forward food safety, innovation and efficiency. He has filled roles as diverse as QA Manager, Process Control Manager, Production Manager, Warehouse Manager, Plant Engineer, Environmental Manager, Plant Manager, General Manager, Entrepreneur, and Consultant. He now works for the Montana Manufacturing Extension Center as the Food and Process Specialist.
Claude lives in Great Falls, MT with his wife and dogs.
