event registration fees rising

You may have heard some buzz about mergers and acquisitions in the event registration space — specifically, the 2017 merger of RegOnline, Active Network and Lanyon with another event registration platform Cvent. Experts anticipated this shift would cause lots of ripples in the marketplace — and, just months in, it’s clear that’s the case. On the heels of this merger, Eventbrite’s process fee skyrocketed to 3.5% plus $1.59 per ticket*. Now, with RegOnline retiring, many in the space are anticipating additional Cvent increases, though the platform already comes with a hefty price tag.

As we’ve heard over and over, these increases have hit the event registration market hard — and they’ve been a major motivator for the Whova team. Now, more than ever, we’re doubling down on our goal of delivering high-quality, low-cost all-in-one event registration options — options that help our customers streamline event management while keeping budgets in-check.

Whova Registration has already built its rock-solid reputation. Seven years ago, many of our app users demanded we support event registrations as well, so they could avoid pivoting between multiple platforms. We leaned in and really listened, launching our first event registration in early 2016. Since then, we’ve provided online registration for over 15,000  conferences and events. Now, we’re ready for more.

Whova’s registration fee is 3.0% with a $0.99 per-ticket fee — lower than Eventbrite (3.7% with a $1.79 per-ticket fee, no cap). It is also significantly less than Cvent, which even charges a high set up fee in addition to a per-ticket fee. With a $1,000 ticket price and 500 registrants, you can save more than $3,900 by using Whova.

Beyond that, our registration offerings come with the award-winning Whova Event App which boosts attendee engagement and networking by 10 times. Check these articles to learn more:

It also leverages several turnkey management tools such as the Agenda Center and Speaker Center plus name badge generation, attendee check-in, live polling and more, all designed to save you time and resources. While the event app does add some small fees, the event management tools are included at no additional cost.

At the end of the day, it’s all about providing the service and supporting your event deserves, all at a fair and consistent price — just like we’ve been since day one.
