Mapping with QGIS – Class 1
Understanding geo-referenced data can be crucial for data-driven investigative reporting. A lot of data contains geo-information - and analyzing this data can open up opportunities for new and better stories.
This workshop is a hands-on beginner's guide for journalists who are interested in working with geo-data and the relevant software - notably QGIS (a free and open-source Geographic information system).
Participants will learn to deal with a relatively big dataset: All of Hamburg's registered traffic accidents in 2017. And we will show how - with a few simple steps - journalists can extract leads for several interesting investigative stories.
