Session 1: Introduction to Social Network Analysis with NodeXL Pro
Social network analysis (SNA) is a powerful research method from the social sciences with many practical applications for journalists, especially when applied to social media data and complex collections of relationships.
This session will provide hands-on training with the SNA tool NodeXL Pro which is a plug-in for Microsoft Office Excel on Windows. No prior knowledge of social network analysis or Excel is required.
Learn how to conduct a social network analysis on any network dataset. Learn to import network data from a variety of sources, cluster the data into sub-communities, detect influencers, generate a content and sentiment analysis, along with a time series analysis and network visualization. For example, here is a sample NodeXL network report of the Twitter hashtag #ddj: https:/nodexlgraphgallery.org/Pages/Graph.aspx?graphID=206658
