AI is everywhere: Algorithms navigate us, run Uber’s dispatcher, help judges make decisions and make governments smarter. It’s time for investigative journalists to step back from the hype and hold tech giants and governments accountable for algorithmic systems influencing society.
This panel will discuss current examples of algorithmic accountability reporting, its conundrums and how newsrooms can step up to investigate algorithms with algorithms. The speakers will also demonstrate this in projects that they themselves have set up and launched in the past – including on the central scoring algorithm in Germany.
