Room 2 - Moral Disengagement: The Link Between a Perceived Culture of Cheating and Actual Cheating Behaviors?
3:00 PM - 3:45 PM
Mon Mar 1, 2021

Moral disengagement was proposed as a mediator between a perceived “culture of cheating” in which academic dishonesty is ignored or condoned and actual cheating behaviors. Specifically, cheating culture was hypothesized to positively predict moral disengagement, which was subsequently hypothesized to positively predict cheating behaviors. Results from mediation analysis supported this hypothesis. Implications for future research and practice will be discussed.
