The overnight move to remote learning forced many students into what they perceive as an invasion of privacy through remotely invigilated (proctored) exams. The University of New England in Australia has been successfully delivering remote assessments since 2017 to a predominantly mature, online, domestic student cohort. The leaders of UNE’s transition to online exams will discuss how to navigate sometimes conflicting risks related to academic integrity, student privacy, equitable access to technology, and academic workload.
