Sometimes the database you want does not exist. Sometimes the data exist, but you can't access it. In either case, you can create your database.
This session will review the principles of efficiently building a database and ensuring it is what you need and is accurate. The speakers will also show how to create spreadsheets from documents, what to think about when you enter your own data, how to use surveys and call-arounds to create a database and how to find stories buried in text or other unstructured material.
NOTE: For best results, be sure to bring a laptop if you want to follow along.
