Bill Shuster is Chair, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Wayne State University. Dr. Shuster studied physics at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, then went on to take his doctorate in Environmental Science at The Ohio State University - Columbus. Over the last 25 years, Dr. Shuster has built an internationally-recognized research program in linking stormwater and wastewater management through innovative research into urban soil hydraulics and the role that soils play in regulating landscape-level hydrologic processes. While serving with the USEPA (2001-2019), Dr. Shuster conducted this research in the larger context of the EPA mission, which entails protecting human health and the environment.
