Description

In 2000, the U.S. Surgeon General released the first report on oral health. This was followed in 2003 with a Call to Action from the Surgeon General’s office. These two reports have guided the oral health community across the country and in Kansas for twenty years. This year a second Surgeon General’s Report on Oral Health will be released. A preview copy of the report will be available by the end of November, and in this session Oral Health Kansas’ Executive Director will preview the report and its emphasis on social determinants of health and innovations in the oral health care delivery system.

Learning objectives:

  • Establish a baseline knowledge of the first Surgeon General’s Report on Oral Health.
  • Share the focus areas for the second report.
  • Understand how the second report will influence public oral health in Kansas.
