Juan Carlos Pérez Baún is working at Atos within Blockchain, Identity & Privacy Unit within Atos Research & Innovation. He is currently working in H2020 program projects such as KRAKEN (Brokerage and market platform for personal data) as technical director and working on decentralised ledger solutions, CyberSec4Europe (Cyber Security for Europe) as technical director and leading demonstration health pilot working on privacy, security and identity aspects. Technical director in CEF GRIDS project (IncreasinG tRust with eId for Developing buSiness). Also, working on PAPAYA (Platform for Privacy preserving data Analytics), focused on the implementation of identity and privacy tools. Additionally, collaborating with YAKSHA (Cybersecurity Awareness and Knowledge Systemic High-level Application) H2020 project. He just been involved in LEPS (Leveraging eID in the Private Sector) a CEF project as technical coordinator and also in CREDENTIAL (Secure Cloud Identity Wallet) an H2020 project, as project manager. He has been involved in FP7 projects such as FutureID and STRATEGIC. He has also participated in EIT ICT Labs activities 2015 and 2016 FIDES (Federated Identity Management System). He joined Atos Spain in 2007, in Atos Research & Innovations, he has been involved in Feasibility Study project about a pan-European federated IAM (Identity Access Management) solution. Also, he has been working in the Odyssey project for ECHA (European Chemical Agency). He holds an Msc degree in Biotechnology from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain, a Bsc degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain.

Modern AI applications crucially depend on large volumes of real-world data, including data about natural persons. However, the use of personal data is associated with data protection challenges. Privacy-preserving technologies are being developed to cope with these challenges. This is a hot topic because
The aim of this session is to discuss cutting-edge advances in privacy-preserving technologies and how they foster the use of big data for AI. The session will allow current and recently finished EU projects (BDV PPP and beyond) to present and discuss their use of privacy-preserving technologies to protect data for AI.
