Over 30 years’ experience in Control Systems within manufacturing related Industries. Contracts with Ford Motor Company Ltd, L’Oréal, Bosch and many SMEs. Fields covered include Industrial Control, Systems Integration, Web Interfacing and Supply Chain Connectivity. Started business life as self-employed in 1991 trading as GSB Services, sub-contracting to Ford Motor Company Ltd for over 30 years carrying out various roles including co-ordinating and delivering a wide range of control systems training at various Ford locations. As a Director of the Digital Manufacturing Innovation hub Wales (DMIW), based in the Waterton Technology Centre, in partnership with Control 2K Limited, we develop Industry 4.0 software and services to support businesses around the UK. Also participate strongly around Europe through European funded H2020 projects and became CEO of the European Factory Foundation (EFF) to be at the fore-front of technological research and implementation. Range of experiences include public speaking and role modelling.

Description

This panel will explore the utilization of data and AI for the benefit of society in the context of the present COVID-19 pandemic. The discussion will explore the practical dimensions and challenges of finding a delicate balance between urgently implementing AI technologies in critical sectors such as healthcare, transport and logistic and manufacturing and maintaining the necessary levels of protection of human rights and corporate interests prescribed by the European regulatory and legislative framework.
