Dr. Ramon Martin de Pozuelo (Male) received the B.Sc. and the M.Sc. degree in Telecommunications Engineering and Ph.D. degree in ICT and its Management (all with honours) by La Salle School of Engineering from Universitat Ramon Llull (URL), Barcelona, Spain, in 2007, 2010, and 2017, respectively. As a researcher in La Salle he participated in several European research and innovation projects related to different fields, especially in the design of heterogeneous data networks and information systems for Smart Grids and Smart Cities, and the definition of network architectures, ICT and security solutions. In 2018 he joined Caixabank as a Project Manager for Technical Fraud Prevention and Security Innovation and Transformation in which he has been managing the participation of CaixaBank in several H2020 projects. He is Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE, since 2018).

BDVe project and BDVA have organized  this year the second edition of the Best Success Story (BSS) contest. The objective of this activity is threefold: 1) to promote and give visibility to the results produced by PPP projects or BDVA SMEs, 2) to present them in a way that could be better understood by a wider audience, and 3) to support them in how to present those results in in an entertaining, fun and constructive way. This year, 18 stories from 9 projects and 5 SMEs have been received, and results have been recently announced (see all information at: https://www.big-data-value.eu/best-success-story-award-2020/finalists/). During this session, we will present winners and runners up on the different categories, allowing them to share with the audience their respective success stories.

Availability of data for financial services is key to unleash the potential of Artificial Intelligence technologies: the INFINITECH project, lighthouse EU H2020 project, approaches application deployment by leveraging on testbeds and sandboxes. The session will explore the importance of data-driven AI for the financial sector by comparing the highly innovative and revolutionary world of Fintech companies with Financial Institutions, conservative and resistant to digital transformation and technology disruption. The session will cover topics related to Open Innovation Hubs and acceleration programs, to highlight the importance of innovation and the opportunities of Fintechs. Moreover, the scope of the Whitepaper of the Task Force “AI and Big Data for the Financial Sector” will be presented, emphasizing market trends, vision, and the innovation impact of novel technologies on the financial sector. The session will end showing real-life scenarios from the Banking Sector.
