Christoph Reuter is a foreign affairs reporter at SPIEGEL. He has been reporting for decades on the crisis regions of the Islamic world, especially from and about Syria. He is a studied Islamic scholar and speaks Arabic fluently. In addition to numerous award-winning reports, he published in 2015 the book "Die schwarze Macht" on the inner workings of the Islamic State. Previous works include: "Mein Leben ist eine Waffe (My life is a weapon)" (2002) about suicide bombers and, together with Susanne Fischer, "Café Bagdad" (2004) on the everyday life in the contested Iraq.
