Eleanor Thompson

Deputy Director, Programmes, Namati Sierra Leone

Eleanor Thompson is a human rights lawyer and policy advocate. She currently works with Namati Sierra Leone, alongside paralegals and other lawyers, to help communities know, use and shape laws to protect their land rights and environment. Prior to joining Namati, she led the human rights and rule of law portfolios for the Africa Regional Office of the Open Society Foundations. She has worked extensively on international justice, the African regional human rights system, justice sector reform, juvenile justice, and youth civic engagement issues. Eleanor holds a Bachelor’s degree in Government and African Studies from Harvard University, a Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law, and a Masters in International Human Rights Law with distinction from the University of Oxford. She is a member of the Sierra Leone Bar, the New York State Bar and the District of Columbia Bar.
