President, Dwyer Agri-Associates
Mike Dwyer is the President of Dwyer Agri-Associates, Inc, a strategic advisory firm serving the market development, trade policy and analytical needs of the global food and agricultural industry, including those in the bio-ethanol sector. Prior to forming Dwyer Agri-Associates in 2019, Michael served as the Chief Economist for the U.S. Grains Council, a non-profit organization that promotes the use of U.S. barley, corn, sorghum and related products (including ethanol) worldwide. Working closely with Growth Energy and RFA, he developed the Council’s worldwide bioethanol market development strategy and directed the sharp expansion of international market development and trade policy activities during 2015-19. He has travelled extensively in Asia, Latin America, and Europe, gaining first-hand knowledge of markets, current supply-demand factors, policies, decision-makers, and issues that impact global markets and speaks frequently at professional conferences and to the news media in the U.S. and around the world on grains, ethanol, and co-products. In addition, Mike recently concluded a two-year appointment serving on the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee advising the Secretary of Commerce on matter pertaining to biofuels. Prior to the Council, Dwyer worked for the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) of USDA for 35 years, most recently as its Chief Economist and as the Director of Global Policy Analysis. In these positions, he was responsible for conducting and coordinating trade and policy analyses on a wide variety of strategic issues that affect U.S. and world agricultural trade, particularly those that affected the global biofuels market. Dwyer holds an M.S. in Agricultural Economics from The Ohio State University with a specialization in international trade and marketing as well as econometrics.
