Peggy Du

Interim Executive Director, Association of Chinese Americans, Inc.

With the dream to broaden her eyes and receive better education, Peggy Du came to the United States to pursue her bachelor’s degree in 2009 from China. While studying at the School of Business Administration of Wayne State University, Peggy worked as a part-time student assistant at the university’s Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS), where she helped the new students and scholars who just arrived in the states. She liked to share her experience of studying abroad with the new students and enjoyed meeting friends from all over the world, listening to their stories and supported them with the transition period. This experience working at OISS planted the seeds for her to engage in community service in the future, where she felt responsible to help minorities and new immigrants. During the study and work at Wayne State University, Peggy was nominated as the Peer Ambassador and Peer Mentor of undergraduate students and received the Michigan Campus Impact Heart and Soul Award for her dedication and commitment to community service and civic engagement. After earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Wayne State University, Peggy started her first job in the Underwriting Department of the United Shore Financial Services. The experience within this No.1 wholesale lender in the nation enriched Peggy’s knowledge by working with various clients in a fast-paced work environment. Her skillsets of client services, multiple-task, quality improvement, and risk management were well developed through the daily work. Enjoyed the challenges and opportunities every day, she found her real passion still in community service and helping minorities. In 2015, Peggy became an intern of the Association of Chinese Americans, Inc. (ACA) and restarted her journey to serve the community members. She was promoted to Assistant Director in June 2020 and served as the interim Executive Director since Dec 2020. With Peggy leading the team, ACA became an officially accredited organization by Council on Accreditation in March 2021. Peggy completed her MBA program from Cleary University in 2020 with a concentration in Global Leadership. Utilizing what she has learned, with her time, enthusiasm, and efforts, Peggy hopes to make a better tomorrow for the Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders community.
