Director & Producer, ILLEGAL: A NEW MUSICAL
Olivia Facini is a multidisciplinary theatre-maker, with experience as a director, producer, dramaturg, playwright, and choreographer. She enjoys taking vague ideas from FaceTime conversations and putting them onstage for people to understand and fall in love with. As a director and choreographer, Olivia seeks to make visually striking, highly physical shows full of dancing, singing, swashbuckling, slapstick, and general getting down with it. A passionate advocate for equity and diversity within the theatre industry and in education (as a founding member of Private Prep’s Racial Equity Working Group), Olivia is committed to creating inclusive and community-building theatre. She often works with first-time artists to bring new voices and little-heard perspectives to the art form. She prides herself on the range of theatre that she makes—works that incorporate artists (and non-artists) of all different backgrounds and skill sets. Based in New York, Olivia has worked in the literary and artistic departments of Atlantic Theater Company and Williamstown Theatre Festival. She is currently leading several projects as a freelance director, producer, and playwright. Olivia has been developing Illegal with Skyler Chin since 2018, and it brings her a lot of joy.
