Nathan Hoge, LMSW, is the Director of Student Support at Health Leadership High School (HLHS) and Executive Director of the New Mexico Counseling Association. His professional experience includes work as an MST/MST-PSB therapist for Southwest Family Guidance Center, where he provided clinical services to young people and families in the home, school, and community settings to empower them to transform their lives, reduce criminal activity, increase prosocial behavior, and build life skills. Nathan's clinical practice specializes in work with adolescents who have experienced significant trauma, abuse, and neglect and who have struggled with gang involvement, substance use, verbal/physical aggression, truancy, legal issues, suicidality, homicialidity, and problem sexual behavior. He has worked to develop and deliver trauma informed curriculum and training to CYFD, Juvenile Probation, and school districts across New Mexico. After experiencing work in the criminal justice field, Nathan changed career paths from law enforcement to social work with the mission of engaging, inspiring, and proactively working with young people to help them make meaningful shifts in their life trajectories before they became entrenched in the criminal justice system. In his spare time he enjoys spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing and taking in the beauty and reprieve of New Mexico's remote wilderness areas.
