Yvette Cabrera

2019 McGraw Fellow, Environmental justice reporter

Yvette Cabrera covers environmental justice issues at the intersection of criminal justice, immigration and environmental health. She has worked in print, online and television, including as an environmental justice reporter for HuffPost, an investigative reporter for ThinkProgress, an investigative producer for CBS2 in Los Angeles, and a columnist at The Orange County Register. She is currently a 2019 fellow for the McGraw Center for Business Journalism, and is investigating the legacy of industrial lead pollution in urban residential neighborhoods. She was also a 2015-16 community health reporting fellow for the International Center For Journalists, and a 2016 Fund for Investigative Journalism grantee. She is a member of IRE, is NAHJ vice president/online, and a board member and vice president for CCNMA: Latino Journalists of California, the oldest regional organization of journalists of color in the country.
