Said is a widely recognized international expert and speaker on Somali diaspora communities and partnerships and provided advice to governments and Somali communities in the US, UK, Turkey, Sweden, Somalia, Denmark, and Norway. He was invited number of times at the White House to advice issue related Somali diaspora, remittance, humanitarian aid Somalia. He was one of the few African decent invited to advice President Obama’s first trip to Africa. Said Sheik-Abdi serves as Managing Director at Aamin Consulting Group, An International Consulting company that helps build capacity of small and local organizations. He is also the co-founder and manager of the I AM A STAR campaign, an innovative grassroots "do-it-yourself" platform that brought together members of the Somali Diaspora community throughout the world and others to support humanitarian and peace in Somalia. I AM A STAR campaign won the Peter Drucker Award in 2012. Said led innovative humanitarian missions in Somalia, Uganda, Congo, and Bangladesh. He also worked with global social media influencers for social good and assisted raise millions of dollars and oversaw projects. He was also an Asset Operations Manager with the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority (the largest public housing agency in Minnesota) and taught an Introduction to Translation course at the University of Minnesota. In 2012, San Diego State University named Said "Person of the Year" for his outstanding work in partnering with the Somali diaspora and other communities. in 2018, Global Donor Forum Committee in London named Said " 2018 Create Coordinator along with Turkish Airlines for responding Somalia's drought
