Description

Kerry-Ann Dixon is a distinguished, master-prepared Registered Nurse in the field of maternal-child health, widely recognized for her effective leadership and community-focused approach. She has established herself as a champion of racial justice within this field, having served as a nurse home visitor for the esteemed Nurse-Family Partnership program. As an Obstetrics nurse, Kerry-Ann has been instrumental in helping many first-time mothers navigate the challenging transition to motherhood. Additionally, she has served as a Community Health Nursing Consultant for the Women’s Health Initiative, Nurse-Family Partnership, and Childbirth Educators (Creole and Spanish) with the Florida Department of Health – Palm Beach County. Currently, Kerry-Ann holds the position of Program and Performance Officer for the Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County, where she demonstrates her unwavering commitment to the welfare of families and children. Her expertise has also been recognized by the Black Mothers’ Breastfeeding Association, where she is a member of the inaugural cohort of the Birth and Breastfeeding Leadership Institute. She was also a nominee for the NeighborWorks America Dorothy Richardson Award for Resident Leadership for her work in the community as part of the Riviera Beach Health Initiative. As a nurse educator, she prepared her students to provide equitable patient-centered care. She was recently endorsed for Culturally Sensitive, Relationship-focused Practice Promoting Infant Mental Health® as an Infant Family Specialist for her previous work within the maternal-child health space, working with young families and continuing to work with families through her organization Developing Legacy. Kerry-Ann returned to Florida Atlantic University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology to pursue a Nursing Ph.D. focused on Health Equity, with a particular interest in the experiences of Black women in the maternal-child health field and has since expanded to include Black fathers’ experiences in the perinatal phase.
