Description

Usha Lee McFarling is a Los Angeles-based reporter for STAT focused on how issues of race and racism affect science and medicine. She has previously worked at the Los Angeles Times, Boston Globe, Knight Ridder Washington Bureau, and San Antonio Light and also taught journalism at the University of Washington. She has an undergraduate degree in biology from Brown University and a masters degree in biological psychology from the University of California, Berkeley. In 2007, she was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for explanatory journalism.
