Sarah Scoles is freelance science journalist, and contributor at WIRED and Popular Science. Her work has also appeared in publications like the New York Times, The Atlantic, Scientific American, Science, Undark, and Physics Today, and others. She is also the author of the books Making Contact: Jill Tarter and the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence and They Are Already Here: UFO Culture and Why We See Saucers, and her forthcoming book is called Mass Defect: Life in the New Nuclear Age. A winner of the American Geophysical Union's David Perlman Award for Excellence in Science Writing and the American Astronomical Society Solar Physics Division's Popular Media Award, she writes about the overlap of science, technology, society, and national security.
