Description

After working in children's book publishing for Scholastic, Lenora Todaro moved to adult books as an editor at Houghton Mifflin, and then to journalism as a senior editor and writer with the Village Voice. “Sidewalk Naturalist,” her column for Catapult Magazine about urban wildlife in New York City, led to her first children’s book, Sea Lions in the Parking Lot: Animals on the Move in a Time of Pandemic, a Junior Library Guild Gold Selection for 2021, a 2022 Green Earth Book Award Shortlist Nominee, and a Bank Street Best Children’s Book of the Year 2022. Her second picture book is scheduled for Spring 2024. She has written for The New York Times, Afar Magazine, the Atlantic, and elsewhere. She is a member of the Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, an expedition leader with the Wildlife Conservation Society, and is pursuing a graduate degree in Animal Behavior and Conservation.
