I came to mathematics teaching as a second career after beginning my working life as a civil engineer. I love the constantly changing landscape of education, with each day bringing new experiences and challenges. My engineering background gives me a deep understanding and appreciation of the practical applications and implications of mathematics, which I use to inform my instructional strategies and as a basis for building good relationships with students. The use of technology in teaching and learning can be a double-edged sword; when I find something that works for my students I'm keen to share it with other educators to help make their lives a bit easier too!
