Description

Andy Meadows is the Arts Education Specialist II in the Instructional Services Section under the Office of Teaching and Learning at the Alabama State Department of Education. This position includes the responsibility for coordinating and implementing fine art arts education programs, professional development, and curriculum in all arts disciplines (dance, media arts, music, theatre, and visual arts) as well as staff duties and responsibilities. He is also the ALSDE point of contact for Credit Recovery, Credit Advancement and Summer School Applications. He is a native of Alabama where he received his undergraduate degree at Huntingdon College and his Master of Fine Arts from the University of Alabama. He has served as a visual arts educator and fines arts administrator for the past 29 years. Andy serves on the Board of Directors of the Alabama Arts Alliance, Alabama Institute for Education in the Arts, and the Alabama School of Fine Arts. He additionally serves on the boards of the Alabama Music Educators Association, Alabama Arts Education Association, and Alabama Educational Theatre Association. He is also a member of the national State Education Agency Directors of Arts Education (SEADAE) and is the current president of the NAEA Special Interest group National Association of State Directors of Arts Education (NASDAE). Andy has exhibited his work in national and international shows and his work is in the collections of museums and private collectors.
