Maria Alonso-Tomlinson holds a Master of Arts in Leadership Development from Evangelical Seminary in Myerstown, PA and a Bachelor’s Degree in Science of Communications from Sacred Heart University in San Juan, P.R. She worked with organizations in the Lehigh Valley for more than 20 years in the areas of child abuse prevention, parenting education, incarcerated population, and the creation of workshops such as Understanding the Hispanic/Latino Community and participated in the Latino Behavioral Health Coalition Symposium with the workshop, ¡Edúcate! Considerations for Prevention Education among the Hispanic/Latino community as We Face the Fentanyl Crisis (2022). Currently, Maria serves as the Manager of Prevention Programs for the Center for Humanistic Change, an organization dedicated for the prevention of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs serving the Lehigh Valley. She believes in building relationships in the community and focuses on understanding its needs to determine how to best deliver prevention education programming.
