Sophia Mastero is an undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with a minor in Public Health at Drexel University. In addition to her academic pursuits, her professional experience is research-driven, in both laboratory and non-laboratory settings. Sophia currently works as a research assistant for the Pennsylvania State Epidemiological Outcomes Workgroup, synthesizing trends in substance use and mental health to inform policy and advocacy. Her passion for public health deepened during her Co-Op in the Quality Control laboratory at Invisible Sentinel—an in vitro diagnostic company—where she focused on quality testing products used for pathogen detection to ensure food safety. With her research experience advocating for evidence-based prevention efforts and her devotion to laboratory research, Sophia hopes to combine these passions in her post-graduate pursuits.
