Margaret A. Thorwart is the Director of the Center for Health Education and Promotion at Millersville University, where she leads a variety of initiatives focused on student well-being and community health. With a strong background in communication, Margaret holds a Master of Arts in Communication Studies from West Virginia University and a Bachelor of Science in Communication with a focus on Public Relations from Millersville University. Throughout her career, Margaret has been dedicated to advancing mental health and overall wellbeing on campus and in the community. She is particularly passionate about mental health and suicide prevention, alcohol and other drug prevention, and healthy relationships. Her work includes comprehensive education on violence prevention, harm reduction strategies, and active bystander training, all aimed at fostering safer and more supportive environments for individuals of all backgrounds. Margaret has been instrumental in driving initiatives that address and reduce interpersonal violence, utilizing evidence-based strategies to create systemic change. Margaret's commitment to improving health education extends beyond individual programs, as she continually advocates for policy changes and support systems that promote holistic well-being. Her work empowers students to make informed decisions and build healthier, more resilient communities.
