Description

Tom Wall is Director of the Watershed Restoration, Assessment and Protection Division in EPA's Office of Wetlands, Oceans and Watersheds. He oversees: - EPA's program for monitoring surface waters, including national, probability-based surveys; - Work to make water quality information collected by states and others available to the public, including monitoring data in a Water Quality Portal and more information on “How’s My Waterway,” one of EPA’s most visited web sites; - Work with states as they develop lists of waters that don’t meet their standards for clean water and prepare restoration strategies (called Total Maximum Daily Loads or TMDLs) or other restoration and protection plans; - Work with states and tribes on a $177 million per year grant program, under section 319 of the Clean Water Act, that helps conservation districts and others restore and protect waters affected by nonpoint sources of runoff and pollution. - His Division also supports EPA’s role as co-chair of the Gulf of Mexico Hypoxia Task Force, a group of states, federal agencies and tribes working to reduce excess nutrients in the Mississippi River Basin and the Gulf of Mexico.
