Derric Thomas is originally from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Derric is a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. Derric also serves as a Youth Minister to teenagers at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church. Derric graduated in 1997 from Langston University in Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy and graduated from the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus, with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Derric leads a staff of 36 employees in the Adult Outpatient Rehabilitation Healthcare setting. Derric is currently a member of the Leadership Governing Body in his Physical Therapy Health Profession. Derric has received multiple leadership awards and certifications, while being in healthcare and in leadership positions, such as Transformational Leadership Award, Best in Healthcare Leadership from the American Health Council, The Art of Leadership Certification and Mentored Pathways for high school students. Derric started his leadership development in 1999 as a mentor to young adults in high school. In 2000, he served in the military for 10 years and led soldiers during the Iraq War. While in the military, Derric, mentored soldiers and led Youth Groups. In addition, Derric has participated in Youth Conferences that has focused on leadership and spiritual development. Derric carries his leadership at home as an influential spiritual leader where he is married to his wife Quimberly Thomas and they have 2 children. Derric's, as a leader, personal mission statement is “Leading Within in order to Lead Others”.
