Dudley Doane is Director of the International Studies Office (ISO) and Summer and Special Academic Programs. He oversees Education Abroad, the International Students and Scholars Program, the Lorna Sundberg International Center, Summer Session, January Term, and Center for American English Language and Culture. Dudley came to UVA in 1999 and has directed the ISO since the fall of 2008. He holds an AB from Bowdoin College, MAT from the School for International Training, and PhD from the University of Virginia. He left North America for the first time as an undergraduate to study in West Germany and was away 11 months. The next summer he joined a course in the former East Germany. A few years later, it was a teaching practicum and home stay in Quito, Ecuador. Then to Korea and after that to Indonesia for work. His most recent education abroad experience was an executive education seminar at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Dudley teaches a COLA class on Globalization and Higher Education.
