Catarina Araya Cardoso

Westminster Business School

An economist with over 15 years work and research experience, Catarina has been teaching energy policy at the University of Westminster for the last two years. She has an Mphil from the University of Cambridge and a PhD from the London School of Economics, where she examined resource management in the Amazon rainforest using a framework informed by institutional economics. Having started working on energy policy shortly after completing her PhD, Catarina is now conducting research in this area and is particularly interested in energy demand in the non-domestic sector and behavioural economics. For her teaching and research, she draws on her previous work at the Carbon Trust helping large businesses develop corporate strategies to reduce their energy consumption and carbon footprint, as well as on her experience leading the climate change programme at WWF-UK.
