Research Fellow
Science Policy Research Unit, University of Sussex

As a researcher I am interested in exploring questions of engaging with communities around resource issues and the potential for co-producing creative outputs. Additionally, I am also looking at methodological questions concerning conducting academic studies within disadvantaged communities in this country. My doctoral research at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) explored the evolution of prosuming within a social housing estate. I am fortunate to have been awarded a Sussex University award for public engagement as well as being a finalist for the national NCCPE Engage awards. Today I am working as a SPRU Research Fellow examining water sustainability and affordability, alongside engagement issues, with social housing tenants. The project is in collaboration with a water company, local authority and national consumer body. Prior to academia I worked as a journalist and as a sustainability communications specialist. Over the years I have produced work for a range of organisations including the Environment Agency, the Guardian and London Weekend Television. I have also considerable experience of working in local government.
