Palmer Johnston, MD, FAAP, is both a practicing neonatologist with Pediatrix Neonatology of Georgia and an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Mercer University School of Medicine, Savannah Campus at Memorial Health University Medical Center. She graduated from Louisiana State University School of Medicine, New Orleans and completed both her pediatric residency and perinatal-neonatal medicine fellowship at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She is passionate about improving the care of her neonatal patients and their families through participating in quality improvement projects and the education of the next generation of neonatal providers including nursing students, neonatal nurses, neonatal respiratory therapists, medical students, and pediatric resident physicians. This passion occasionally involves impromptu “on her soapbox” discussions involving a variety of topics from safe sleep practices to name that newborn rash.
