Director of Research, Engagement and Innovation Services
Ceri is the Director of the Department of Research, Engagement and Innovation at Swansea University. The department has a team of 100 working across the University’s two campuses. Ceri’s responsibilities include Research Development, Research Impact, Business Engagement, IP Commercialisation, Entrepreneurship Development, Project Management Services and European Funding Operations for the University. He has extensive experience in research and innovation and a strong understanding of the link between business and academia. Ceri has led the development and implementation of the University’s research and innovation strategy since 2001, and has since that time secured circa £20m in external investment to the University over that period. As the driving force behind a number of the University’s strategic projects, Ceri has successfully directed major regional programmes such as LEAD Wales, the ION Leadership Programme, the Dragon Innovation Partnership, Enterprise Europe Network, All Wales IP Partnership, Knowledge Exchange Wales, AGOR IP and a range of entrepreneurship related interventions. Ceri has extensive experience of student entrepreneurship and was the University’s first ever, Entrepreneurship Champion. Ceri was one of the keynote speakers when his department hosted the HEINNOVATE Thematic Forum on Developing Entrepreneurial Universities back in 2014.
