Amanda works at EPCOR as the manager of corporate communications where she and her courageous team work hard everyday to protect and enhance the EPCOR brand! Now in her fifth year on the IABC Edmonton board, Amanda can often be heard talking about the meaningful connections and relationships she's made through her board involvement. Catherine is a leader, communicator, coach, entrepreneur and speaker. Before transitioning her career to leadership development, facilitation, and recruiting, she spent 20+ years as a corporate and marketing communications leader, both client side and running her own communication companies. She has a depth of experience leading teams, building companies, providing executive communications counsel, and delivering workshops. She’s now a certified leadership coach, is a trained Engagement Champion through Gallup, and is certified in delivering the Strengths Deployment Inventory. Catherine is past president of IABC Canada West Region and the IABC British Columbia chapter.
As an Employee Communications Specialist for Servus Credit Union, Elizabeth is able to put her passion for improving the employee experience into action. Elizabeth has developed experience in internal, external and marketing communications along with social media strategy, community investment and marketing events. She was an IABC volunteer on the Capital Awards committee for three years before stepping into the Director role last year. A born and raised Edmontonian and mom of two boys, Elizabeth loves exploring the city and experiencing all that it has to offer!
Originally from the UK, I am currently President of the British Columbia chapter which is one of the largest chapters in the world with almost 500 members. In the last 2 years we’ve won 3 Chapter management awards - most recently for leadership development and volunteer engagement. I’m a digital marketer and strategist, experienced in developing and executing integrated marketing and communications plans. I’m currently working with the Mayors’ Council and Translink in British Columbia providing support to the executive director of the MC, Translink staff and the Mayors of the province on initiatives including the current #CureCongestion campaign.
Jonathan is Director of Communications for the Saskatchewan Ministry of Government Relations. Previously, he led media relations and issues management with SaskPower, Saskatchewan’s publicly owned power utility. In addition to his work as a communicator, Jonathan is a former journalist, having written for Le Soleil newspaper out of his native Quebec City, as well as for the History News Network, Radio Canada and Canadian Sailings Magazine. Jonathan is the 2018-19 chair of the Canada West Region for IABC, where he represents the interests of western Canadian communicators and their professions, and supports communications leadership in BC and the Prairie provinces. Jonathan also holds the board chair of the Royal Roads University School of Communication and Culture. He lives in Regina, Saskatchewan with his wife, Julie and two boys, Thomas and Maximilien.
Joyce has over 30 years of executive experience in a large, urban municipality. Her practice focuses on processes for strategic planning and implementation in complex organizations, strategic communications in public service or other high visibility environments, facilitation of senior executive groups. She is also skilled in public participation and stakeholder consultation planning and execution.
As an independent management consultant, Lazina McKenzie shares her expertise in change management, stakeholder engagement and consultation, strategic planning and facilitation services. Lazina holds an MBA from the University of Alberta, and volunteers on several boards – so she has first-hand knowledge of the challenges facing boards. She has worked with organizations, large and small, and with all levels of staff, from front-line to CEO.
Megan manages Employee Communications & Culture at EPCOR, leading a dedicated and talented team and leveraging over a decade of communications experience. Since 2014, Megan has served on the IABC Edmonton board in a number of portfolios such as student development, sponsorship and finance -- taking every opportunity to grow, learn and supplement her professional experience. If you find yourself in the same room as her, you'll likely hear her laugh before you see her face.
Roland Pajares is currently Past President of IABC/Manitoba. IABC/Manitoba is the smallest chapter in CWR and has won back-to-back Chapter Management Awards of Merit in Professional Development in 2016/17 and 2017/18. He works as a Research Manager at NRG Research Group based in Winnipeg. He is a quantitative and qualitative researcher and has conducted a broad range of research projects including membership and customer satisfaction, brand equity measurement, usability research, and product development and testing.
Sue Ridewood, ABC, is Canada West Region’s National Programs Director. Her favourite thing is helping communicators reach their professional dreams. Plus finding the humour in everything.
Suzanne Pescod is the Marketing and Communications director with the Ronald McDonald House in Edmonton. Her previous experience in marketing and communications has included working for the construction and oil and gas sectors, as well as a couple of years working in the world of professional sports. Some of Suzanne’s most fun experiences include speaking at conferences around the province and she loves to moderate a great panel full of bright ideas! Suzanne is an active advocate for all things related to #YEG.
Tracy is passionate about enabling leaders and teams to use the forces of communication for good. As a professional communicator for over 20 years, Tracy has worked in a variety of industries in her home town of Calgary, Alberta. Her first love is helping leaders to develop and hone communications skills as a critical part of their leadership toolbox. A long-time member and volunteer with IABC, Tracy is excited to be part of CWR and representing the region on the Council of Regions this year.
