Since this year marks the 20th anniversary of the International Graduate Student Conference (IGSC), it is an honor to participate in this conference as a researcher and an affiliate of the East-West Center (EWC). The theme of IGSC connects to my research because I worked on the project of investigating how teachers at K-12 schools in Hawai'i are implementing Global Citizenship Education (GCE). The purpose of my project is to investigate how teachers understand and develop lesson plans of GCE and find out issues that teachers face in the classroom. In this research, I focus on defining and understanding GCE’s conceptual frameworks from available literatures, investigating how teachers understand and develop the lesson plans of GCE, and finding out issues that teachers face in the classroom. Since GCE is a relatively new school program, my project begins to inform educators in Hawai'i about GCE and the implementation issues involving technology, teacher training, and administration.
