John is going to discuss MemComputing. MemComputing is commercializing a technology developed at UCSD that takes a revolutionary approach to solving today's most complex optimizaton problems orders of magnitude faster than today's best algorithms. These are problems faced widely in areas such as routing, scheduling and pure optimization problems. Routing is a problem that boils down to the same computational problems whether it you are UPS or Fed Ex calculating the most efficinet route for your trucks each morning or if you are Intel or Qualcomm calculating the placement and routing within the chips that you are designing or are in the telecom industry where you may be routing Internet bandwidth and/or cellular transmissions.
John will talk a little bit about how this solution, originally designed as a hardware solution, is being implemented in software and how it is available today in the cloud as a software as a service (SaaS) model as well as available in a custom software development kit (SDK).
What does it mean to be orders of magnitude faster than today's best algorithms? That means that MemComputing can perform hundreds, thousands and millions of times faster. The larger the problem the better the performance. In fact, problems that would take today's best algorithms far longer than a human lifespan can be resolved by MemComputing in hours or even minutes.
