Practitioners of Color Forum: Intersectionality of Our Identities

Thu Oct 19, 2017
10:45 AM - 12:00 PM
Lahaina Room

Description

Continuing the efforts of the Practitioners of Color Forum founded last year, we gather this year to discuss the impact of multiple and intersectional identities and how these are viewed and lived within the intercultural field. Join us in an open discussion about the challenges and opportunities of addressing intersectionality as an intercultural practitioner of color, merging the experiences of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability, language, faith, nationality, and more. How can we encourage these many aspects of our identities in our work? What problems and pitfalls can occur, and how to prepare for or deal with them? How to support one another in fully embodying one’s full and “authentic self”?
