Engineer/Data Scientist

Full time position in the Caterpillar Large Power System Division Analytics and Condition Monitoring team.

Job Description
Analyze and execute customer input to create high confidence condition monitoring content. Investigate equipment failures to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendations on maintenance.

Skills: Coding, initiative, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability, applied machine learning experience. Team player and detail oriented. Displays attributes of a critical thinker and leverages innovative ideas. Strong leadership and mentoring skills. Expert ability to code and analyze data and apply analytical/statistical techniques to produce actionable information and recommendations. Previous experience with coding, machine learning, applied statistical techniques, engineering, ideally with engines.

Position Contribution
The individual will code condition monitoring power systems content into engineering and commercial content. Analytical, statistical, and machine learning techniques will be applied. Individual will work with the team to individually contribute to project work. This may involve original development or replication and tuning of existing content to new applications. Data mining will also be an expectation. Engineering knowledge will be applied with analytics/statistics to confirm that answers make sense and do not conflict with real world physics.
