The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as in classroom, online, and hybrid environments. Tenure-track faculty are expected to develop and maintain an active program of research leading to peer-reviewed publications. They should also provide service to the department, college, and academic community that is commensurate with their rank and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Candidates must have potential or demonstrated ability to teach a range of management courses. The position’s primary teaching assignment will be in the area of Strategic Management. Secondary teaching and research interests may include Strategic Human Resource Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, or Entrepreneurship. Qualified candidates must have a demonstrated ability or potential to produce quality research.
Required Education and/or Experience
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. (or other doctoral degree) in Management (or a closely related field) from an AACSB accredited program. Candidates who are ABD (nearing completion with outstanding potential) may be considered.
Preferred Education and/or Experience
Preference will be given to individuals with a background and interest in strategic management; however, all fields will be considered.

Sam Houston State University is seeking applicants in the area of Strategic Management with a secondary interest in a management related field. Duties will include teaching, both face-to-face and on-line, graduate and undergraduate classes in the area of strategic management, conducting research and publishing in scholarly journals, and providing services to the department, college, university, and appropriate national organizations. We seek individuals who are excellent teachers that can bring experience-based credibility to the classroom while also advancing the increasing research reputation of the department and the college. Qualification as Scholarly Academic under AACSB standards (as defined by SHSU’s COBA) and ability to maintain that qualification.
Degree Requirements:
PhD in Management from an AACSB accredited program; ABD considered.
Experience Requirements:
Candidate must have classroom experience. Industry experience is a plus.
Other Requirements for the position:
Individual will typically teach 9 hours per semester, engage in research, and support the college through service. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to publish in peer reviewed journals.
