The Climate Action Campaign, a national coalition of environmental and public health groups has had success in achieving its goal to slow, stop or weaken the attacks on climate, clean air and clean energy. The coalition coordinates national political strategy, communications, and field operations across the country and in 2018, the Campaign has real opportunities to defend current policies and to continue planting the seeds for long-term progress.

The Development Content Manager leads the organization’s production of written grant reports, grant proposals, and presentations for program funders and other high-level stakeholders. He/she is responsible for the development and organization of content that articulates CAC’s strategy, capacities and tactics, and outcomes and accomplishments, tailored for specific audiences.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities​​
The Content Manager is responsible for working closely with the Planning Director (Internal), and Campaign Director to develop and maintain language and funder-facing materials that record CAC’s strategic plans and outcomes in comprehensive and creative ways. He/she will be expected to work independently to identify opportunities to strengthen our materials, collect information from program staff, present a compelling picture of our work, and point out inconsistent information to campaign leadership. Duties include:​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
CONTENT DEVELOPMENT: ​
• Develop written reports and related materials for program funders and other high-level stakeholders and Steering Committee members. This includes, but is not limited to:
o Develop and write regular reports on campaign priorities and results
o Develop and manage slide decks and meeting agendas for funder presentations
o Gather and provide all necessary information and intelligence (issue landscape as well as plans, needs, strategies) on campaign priorities
• Manage and strengthen internal processes for content development, including soliciting input from others, communicating needs and deadlines, and documenting approval stages.
• Ensure development materials align with campaign strategy and operational plans.
• Copy-editing and formatting of critical documents.
• Other duties as assigned.

STAKEHOLDER SUPPORT:
• Communicate the strategic vision of the campaign to staff, donors, and external stakeholders in a variety of formats, including through presentations and written plans.
• Support the Campaign Director, campaign co-chairs, and other senior leaders or stakeholders in preparing for funder meetings and presentations by crafting talking points and supporting materials.
• Provide updates and share briefing materials and reports with staff and other interested parties (internally and externally), at the request of direct supervisor or the Campaign Director.
• Schedule funder presentations and other relevant meetings.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
• At least 2-4 years of experience in non-profit development, grant reporting, or other writing-centered role
• Excellent communication skills, including acting as a strong, fast, and accurate writer -- with an ability to distill large volumes of information into essential toplines and display information visually
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong presentation and negotiation skills
• Overall interest in politics, news of the day, and building a strong, persuasive case to high-level funders for continued investment in the climate fight
• Ability to navigate a fast-moving environment and display a strong ability to manage up
• An understanding of campaign finance, 501c3 and 501c4 structures and permissible activities is preferred, but not required
• Familiarity with the environmental movement is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to manage a project through completion and meet deadlines ahead of schedule
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment, organizing time and evaluating competing priorities
• Demonstrated ability to represent organizational mission and programs
• Ability to collaborate effectively or work well as a member of a team
• Exceptional attention to detail and highly organized
• Comfort with technology and software, including experience with MS Office/PowerPoint

Working Conditions

• Travel domestically about two times per year for 3-4 days each

• Ensure regular and timely communication with appropriate organizations/stakeholders and vendors to implement phone programs
• Oversee the numerous, and often concurrent, phone programs CAC/PP works with organizations to execute
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of identifying universes for prospective phone programs
• Attend internal and external meetings to determine best courses of actions and plot future projects, along with providing updates on ongoing projects
• Produce compelling and informative reports for both data and non-data staff on future, past, and present phone programs
• Provide backend data support to vendors and affiliate organizations
• Directly manage data flow and data standardization from vendors and partner organizations
• Through strong quantitative skills identify opportunities to improve program performance among members, action takers, and the general public

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Bachelor’s degree/equivalent experience
• At least 2 years of experience managing and manipulating voter file data (NGP VAN, Catalist, TargetSmart, etc.) for advocacy, membership and/or political campaign organizations
• Ability to efficiently manage multiple ongoing projects under short timelines
• Strong customer service and communication skills, including translating complex data problems into concise summaries, recommendations, and plans for non-technical staff
• Collaborative approach and ability to work successfully with data and program staff internally as well as with partner organizations and external vendors
• Proficiency in SQL, R, Unix, Python is a plus
• Previous experience creating data visualizations (Tableau, Periscope, QuickBase, et cetera) desired

The Climate Action Campaign is a highly effective, unbranded coalition of national climate, conservation, and progressive groups, state and local partners, and key allies working to protect clean air and promote action to limit climate change. The Campaign regularly partners with national and state-based groups, as well as leaders from diverse communities, to promote climate action, defend against attacks on the Clean Air Act and climate change policies, and showcase the unyielding transition to clean energy driven by state, local and federal action.

Position Summary
The Public Engagement Deputy Director is responsible for working with the Director of Public Engagement to oversee the campaign’s engagement with NGO allies including diverse constituency groups. This position will manage independent portfolios including but not limited to: progressives, Veterans/National Security and others as assigned. They will also assist in the day to day management of the Public Engagement team and internal liaising with CAC leadership and departments.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
The Public Engagement Deputy Director responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
● Establish new and existing relationships with partner organizations representing diverse constituencies.
● Maintain relationships with partner organizations by facilitating weekly check-in calls or meetings to ensure grant deliverables are met.
● Work well within and deftly navigate dense Coalition dynamics.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
● Serve as Coalition’s point of contact for respective constituencies and organizations, keeping Coalition management, internal departments, and direct supervisors apprised of latest intel from partner organizations and constituencies.
● Co-manage the Public Engagement team with the Acting Director of Public Engagement.
● Facilitate material delivery and development from Coalition to partner organizations
● Work with Coalition and partner organizations to develop grants and contracts containing deliverables best suited for both parties. Deliverables could include earned media events, placed media opportunities, social media plans, and engagement with key stakeholders or decision makers.
● Drive department reporting schedule and the annual or bi-annual partner assessments.
● Work with Acting Director of Public Engagement to ensure outputs of the public engagement team align with the campaign’s overarching strategy.
● Travel to events to provide on the ground direction when needed.
● Provide written and verbal updates on program activity, including but not limited to planned activity around key moments, regular report backs on events and activity, ongoing database reporting, etc.

• Bachelor’s degree/equivalent experience

• At least 2-4 years political, organizing, media experience
• Demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Experience w/ MS Office Suite. Demonstrated proficiency w/ Excel and PowerPoint is required

The Climate Advocacy Lab
The Climate Advocacy Lab helps climate and clean energy advocates run smarter public engagement campaigns. Launched in 2015, the Lab has quickly grown to be a network of 2,000+ advocates, social scientists, data experts and funders developing and sharing evidence-based best practices for what works--and what doesn’t--for engaging and mobilizing Americans on climate and clean energy. In addition to running workshops and trainings for the community, the Lab also facilitates and gives grants to support field research aimed at testing how best to engage people on these issues.

Position Description
The Social Science & Content Coordinator will develop and maintain the Lab’s body of training and reference resources, drawing on social science and gray literature, field research, and polling. This role will also involve working with members of the academic and advocacy communities on field research projects to expand our evidence base. This position will work closely with an existing social scientist on the Lab team, and others with backgrounds in climate advocacy. Applicants should have both a grounding in the relevant research, as well as an abiding passion for employing that expertise to help climate advocates translate knowledge into wins on this urgent issue. The position is available as either a one-year fellowship or as permanent staff, upon arrangement at the time of hiring.

Primary duties and responsibilities
• Manage and improve the Lab’s Resource Library (note, this links to the public-facing Library, and additional content is available to members only)
• Identify relevant new and existing social science academic literature and translate for an advocate audience
• Prepare short syntheses of available research on various topics for an advocate audience
• Liaise with members of the social science community interested in involvement with climate advocacy
• Lead and/or advise on the design and analysis of field research projects related to climate engagement
• Prepare materials for and participate in webinars and workshops

Knowledge, skills, and assets
• Master’s degree in a relevant social science or data science field. PhD preferred
• Academic expertise related to climate or other social issue advocacy
• Experience using social media platforms for public engagement preferred
• Excellent ability to develop content across various mediums (including concise written summaries, whitepapers, in-person presentations [PowerPoint], and webinars [Zoom])
• Proficiency in managing a diverse, dynamic, multi-author content repository (including presentation files, web assets, etc.) via CMS, version control, and templates tools
• Expertise in qualitative and/or quantitative research methodologies. Experience with field research preferred
• Ability to manage multiple relationships involving collaborators with minimal backgrounds in research and social science
• Network of relationships in communities of relevant social scientists preferred
• Experience working in climate or other social issue advocacy a plus
• A commitment to social and environmental justice. Familiarity with issues of race, systemic inequalities, and their intersections with climate and clean energy is a plus

Compensation and Location: This is a full-time position. This position comes with a very competitive salary and a generous benefits package. The Climate Advocacy Lab is located in San Francisco, and we have a strong preference for candidates located in, or willing to relocate to the Bay Area. Travel every other month is likely with this position.
