Campus Vote Project Outreach and Comms Director

We work with universities, community colleges, facu... lty, students, and election officials to reduce barriers to student voting. CVP helps campuses institutionalize reforms that empower students with the information they need to register and vote.
CVP seeks to hire an outreach and communications director. The outreach and communications director will lead our efforts in reaching and engaging new partners, college administrators and faculty, and students across the country. They will also play a key role in strategizing and working with Fair Elections Center’s communication and policy manager to implement a 2020 communications plan for CVP.
Key Responsibilities -Develop a 2020 communications and outreach strategy for Campus Vote Project that broadens our reach and deepens our relationships with core colleges and universities, state and national partners, and students -Maintain our Salsa database and send regular emails to CVP members, Voter Friendly Campuses, and our state and national partners. -Coordinate social media campaigns across multiple platforms, and run election-based ads around registration deadlines and election dates. -Work with state staff to develop and implement state-specific communications strategies including developing social media, partner emails, and uplifting success stories. -Support maintenance for the Campus Vote Project website including updating information, writing blog posts, and creating new content. -Identify state and national press opportunities such as tracking voting rights new, submitting op-eds, and writing LTEs where fitting. -Manage the production and updating of resources and materials for CVP’s staff and partners, such as the Student Voter Engagement Handbook and bi-annual Voter Friendly Campus Report
Fair Elections Center’s Campus Vote Project Position Description Campus Vote Project seeks a State Coordinator for Wisconsin. The State Coordinator is a key member of our team. They are charged with managing a... nd strengthening existing relationships with campus administration and faculty leadership and establishing new, lasting relationships with campuses to carry out our goals (stated below). They also supervise “Democracy Fellows,” student positions committed to carrying out democratic engagement programs on their campuses. Democracy Fellows coordinate with administration and faculty, helping organize student voter registration, voter education, and voter turnout activities.
Goals of the Program: • Engage campuses at an institutional level to help create nonpartisan democratic engagement programs in 2019 and 2020 that promote voter registration, voter education, voter turnout, and foster student leadership across the entire campus community. • Provide campus administrators, faculty, and student leadership with accurate nonpartisan information on the voting process and elections through trainings, materials, and one-on-one support. • Ensure campus administrators, faculty, and student leadership conduct comprehensive voter engagement programs and begin institutionalizing and cultivating a long-term culture of democratic engagement on their campuses. • Implement CVP’s program with approximately 15 campus partners and 12-20 Democracy Fellows across Wisconsin. • Coordinate with CVP’s coalition partners also conducting nonpartisan civic engagement programs on campuses. • Engage with coalition partners, make CVP materials and resources available to partners, and foster greater administrator/institutional-level engagement of these partners’ programs. • Complete progress reports highlighting sharable best practices and lessons learned for other institutions and conduct an evaluation of all efforts throughout and at the end of 2020. • Organize an annual summit to bring together campus partners

Assist with special projects as directed within the auspices of the work of the Foundation & Institute. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Demonstrated interest and experience in the field of digital marketing. Successful experience working in an office environment a must. Excellent writing and editing skills necessary; copy-editing experience preferred. Proficiency in clerical functions, including mail-merge functions, voice mail, email, internet, filing, and mailing. Detail oriented, good problem-solving skills, with ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
