One Doctoral and One Master's Trainee
Dalhousie University
This training opportunity involves pragmatic real world studies in understanding processes and system changes associated with hepatitis C elimination in Canadian jurisdictions. Two positions, one PhD and one Masters, are available.

The study assesses the impact of two healthcare interventions on patient lives and delivery of care at the health care provider and health system level in the context of a broader hepatitis C virus elimination strategy.

The study will be using point-of-care hepatitis C tests to engage the population in testing for hepatitis C infection, as well as motivational interviewing to engage in hepatitis C infection treatment. These are to be used as tools of engagement in care.

This is a cross-disciplinary health research opportunity co-supervised with the Department of Infectious Diseases (Principal Investigator Dr. Lisa Barrett) and the School of Health and Human Performance Supervisor (TBD).

How to apply: Please provide a full CV and letter outlining your research interest to Jade Dirk jade.dirk@nshealth.ca in a single PDF before Friday, June 28, 2019, 4:00 pm ADT. Start Date: September 2019 (flexible).

Postdoctoral Fellowship
McMaster University
McMaster Institute for Research on Aging Fellowship: Citizen and Community Engagement Methods and Evaluation

The McMaster Institute for Research on Aging (MIRA) invites submissions for a post-doctoral
fellowship focused on the methods and evaluation of the involvement of older adults as partners in community-based research.
The McMaster Institute for Research on Aging (MIRA) aims to optimize the longevity of Canada’s aging population through research, education, and collaboration. Interdisciplinary teams work alongside older adults and key stakeholders to find ways that will help Canadians spend more years living well.

MIRA also acts as an entry point to many of McMaster’s existing research platforms in aging, including the Labarge Centre for Mobility in Aging and the McMaster Optimal
Aging Portal.

The objective of this Fellowship is to address current gaps in understanding of the effectiveness of different approaches for involving older adults in research activities. MIRA encourages the active involvement of older adults at all stages of the research process, however, the evidence to support
the most appropriate methodologies for doing this is weak.

Supervised by Drs. Julia Abelson (Department of Health Evidence and Impact) and Rebecca Ganann (School of Nursing), the Fellow will conduct research to address this gap, in addition to working directly with research teams in MIRA to develop methods that are effective and relatively easy to implement. The focus of this work will be on the involvement of older adults in research planning, implementation, and evaluation.

• seeking applicants prepared to start fellowship in July or August 2019.

For more information, contact Dr. Julia Abelson c/o Terry Martens (marten@mcmaster.ca).
