Primary Responsibilities

HDR is currently seeking a Water Resources Project Manager to work as a member of our Washington Water Business Group in either our Seattle or Bellevue office locations.

Our team focuses on hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and design for flood mitigation, water quality, erosion mitigation, fish passage, stream restoration, dams and reservoirs, and stormwater management projects with opportunities to work on all project phases from master planning, design, and construction.
Project- and task-level management, leading and directing technical staff, as well as hands-on project engineering for all phases on a wide variety of water resource projects.
Manage H&H modeling including 1D/2Dhydraulic models to support planning and design of a wide range of flood, erosion mitigation, and water quality projects including stream rehabilitation and restoration, fish passage,
complex culverts and bridges, stormwater management (planning and design).
Manage/lead/develop engineering design including plans, specifications, cost estimates, and contract documents for a diverse variety of water resources projects.
Manage/lead/perform water resources master planning studies including multi-objective watershed-wide flood, stormwater, and/or water quality plans.
Lead/develop preparation of technical and non-technical reports and presentations including visualization of data.
Assist with business development activities including client relations, marketing pursuits, and project proposals.
Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Water Resources Management Market Sector Lead, we'll count on you to:

• Take responsibility for operations of production section including staff development, profitability, morale, quality control and marketing support.

• Drive vision and strategic planning for market sector disciplines

• Function as Project Manager and take responsibility for production on projects in addition to management responsibilities

• Take administrative responsibility for section staff and technical service functions, and lead and coordinate services with other sections

• Be involved in marketing planning, proposals and interviews

• Be directly involved with industrial and public clients in marketing, project production and related issues

• See that all work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through proactive project management system

• Implement, monitor and support company policy

• Select, train, develop and manage technical personnel

• Manage and develop multi discipline teams

• Work cooperatively with National Directors and marketing staff in local and national marketing and production efforts

Stormwater Business Class Lead - (158456)

The primary responsibility of the Stormwater Business Class Lead will be to provide in-house leadership and guidance as it relates to stormwater services as well as developing and delivering projects for clients related to stormwater work. This role is responsible for the overall vision and strategy of the Stormwater team, will function as a supervisor to staff, manage projects and provide production on projects in addition to business development responsibilities. This role is responsible for planning and design of stormwater and hydraulic design elements including, but not limited to:
Stormwater management facilities;
Site drainage;
Storm sewers;
Green stormwater infrastructure (GSI);
Best management practices (BMPs) for water quality treatment;
Low-impact development;
Watershed planning; and

In this role, you will work closely with the project engineers to prepare both planning level and design level projects including drainage reports, and contract/bid documents; and work collaboratively with other design disciplines to provide integrated solutions and business development opportunities. This role reports to and works closely with the Water Resources Market Sector Lead.

Senior Fisheries Engineer - (155988)

HDR is in search of a Senior Fisheries Engineer to join our specialized Fisheries Design Center and Ecohydraulics practice in Gig Harbor, WA. The candidate will be responsible for providing technical expertise at the project level and assisting with growing HDR’s fisheries program through development of client relationships and identification of opportunities for expansion of HDR’s suite of environmental and water resources services. Responsibilities will include technical work, project management, in addition to marketing, business development, and client management. The candidate will also be responsible for establishing the sequencing of tasks/projects, from financial management of the project through successful completion of the project utilizing HDR’s technology, standards, and project delivery practices. The primary duties of this position include planning, directing and monitoring all aspects of large multi-discipline projects or medium sized projects with high degree of technical complexity. The candidate will be involved with the production and coordination of several projects concurrently.

The Senior Fisheries Engineer will be expected to establish new client relations and be involved with local, regional, and national marketing, contracting, planning and management meetings. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating workloads with the project team throughout the entire project development to completion of documents on schedule; and will work with the project controllers and local, area and regional management for project reviews. The successful candidate will be a key team member in an already thriving fisheries practice centered in the Pacific Northwest and focused on program development throughout the United States and Canada.
