Director of Development
New Haven Promise
Reporting to the President, the Director of Development is a hands-on leadership position responsible for cultivating and soliciting a portfolio of major gift prospects, as well as engaging the President and volunteer leadership in ways they can add the greatest value to the organization. Responsibilities will also include creating, improving, and implementing all development efforts as well as managing, directing, and/or executing all aspects of development operations including major gifts, special events, corporate and foundation giving, direct response, alumni giving, appeals for specific needs, and in-kind support. Successful candidates will also oversee public relations activities relating to fundraising and manage donation reporting and annual budget proposals.

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in fundraising, and proficiency in fundraising databases as well as Microsoft Office.

Candidates must have:
-Bachelor’s degree.
-Excellent interpersonal, managerial, analytical, organizational and communication skills (both oral and written).
-Capable of both big picture thinking, as well as executing the details.
-Flexible and enthusiastic; persistent in overcoming obstacles.
-Ability to think and act independently, as well as collaborate with a team.
-Strong code of ethics and a healthy sense of humor.

Work Environment

Due to the pandemic, our current working environment is a mix of working from our office in District, New Haven (conditions permitting), and working from home. Right now, a large part of the job will require working with the team remotely via Microsoft Teams.

Business Manager

The Business Manager will apply professional knowledge in coordination with the Fiscal Department in monitoring, consultation, training and daily oversight of business functions of the agency.
